Meet Jayvon Howard

Jayvon Howard (he/him/his) is a Writer, Advocate and Educator.

A Cleveland, OH native, Jayvon serves as the Manager of Engaging Men Initiatives with the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, serves as President/CEO of Cincinnati Black Pride and as a trainer with A Call to Men.

He is a nationally recognized speaker providing comprehensive trainings, technical assistance, program development, program management, strategic planning, leadership and other consulting in his areas of sexual and domestic violence; with an expertise in serving male survivors of sexual victimization. He collaborates with individuals and communities to break the cycles of interpersonal and institutional violence using models that focus on the root causes of oppression.

He has provided over 100 trainings on topics including best practices for direct services to victims of crime, public health, family violence, trauma, gender studies, LGBTQI issues, outreach to underserved populations, families in societal contexts and peace studies.

He is passionate about human rights and social justice with corollary interests in racial capitalism, racial equity, Black freedom movements, and Black Political Thought.

In addition to his roles, he serves as a co-chair with the Ohio LGBTQI Cooperative in partnership with Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization and Ohio Domestic Violence Network. He is a member of the North American Men Engage Network and the Ohio Anti-Oppression Committee. He has co-facilitated the creation of the Courageous Conversations during his tenure as co-chair with Ohio Men’s Action Network (OHMAN) and continues to serve alongside OHMAN leadership.

He was nominated and received the ‘Vizazi Torch’ Award awarded by Cincinnati Black Pride in 2023, the Shine Your Light Award in 2017 and the New Faces of Fundraising Fellowship Cummings Cup in 2017.

Jayvon attended college at Miami University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Science before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio.
